How to restrict access by global/group/user (system admins only)
System administrators can choose who has access to all or parts of Find and Replace by Easy Apps.
Learn how to customize restrictions to space and page level find and replace:
globally
by group
by user
Step 1: get to app settings
Option 1: within the app
Open app from any page under Apps
Click button ‘App settings’ (only system administrators see this button)
Option 2: via Confluence administration
Click on the Confluence administration gear icon in the top right.
Under ‘Apps’ click on ‘Find and Replace settings’
Step 2: enable restrictions
By default all users have full access to Find and Replace. To set restrictions you first need to toggle to enable restrictions.
Note: toggling is only the first step. Nothing changes until you click Save.
Step 3: choose restrictions
Global (default tab)
‘Global’ means across the Confluence instance (all spaces).
System administrators have two separate ‘Global’ options:
disable space level Find and Replace for all users
disable page level Find and Replace for all users
By space
Add spaces to edit. Start typing the name of the space or scroll though the pull-down and select one or multiple spaces.
Click ‘Add’ after selecting the space or spaces where you want to edit restrictions.
In the example below space level Find and Replace is disabled for all users in the ‘Documentation’ space.
By group
Exactly like 'By space', to add groups to change restrictions for a group, type the name of the group or scroll though the pull-down and select one or multiple groups.
In this example Find and Replace is being disabled for the group which is used for all guest users:
By user
Exactly like ‘By space' or 'By group’, to change restrictions for a user, type the name of the user or scroll though the pull-down and select one or multiple users.
In this example the user ‘Stavros’ is losing access to space level Find and Replace. This applies to all spaces as it is at the user level, not the space level:
Edit multiple tabs before saving
You can move from one tab to another drafting restriction changes. You do not need to click Save when moving from one tab to another. But no changes will take effect until you click Save after each edit.
Step 4: confirm and save
Click Save on any tab
This brings a popup with an overview of the changes. Based on all the example restrictions we set above, the preview would look like this:
We are not re-enabling any restrictions, but if you do they are marked in green like this:
Click Save again after you are happy with the preview:
Only when you see this popup confirmation message do you know that the new restrictions have been set.
